Yina Li
Designer in Residence
“Paint the dragon, dot the eyes.”
Chinese idiom
Yina first discovered her love of art at the age of four, after a memorable Blues Clues episode called “Masterpiece Museum.” Back then, if she wasn’t swinging on monkey bars, you might catch her practicing double pirouettes or learning how to read sheet music on the piano. That is to say, she grew up surrounded and nurtured by the arts, so it was no surprise when she enrolled at Washington University in St. Louis to pursue a BFA in Communication Design. There, she also pursued a second major in Psychology and a minor in Human-Computer Interaction, working as a Research Assistant for the Attention and Performance Lab and the Sensory and Ambient Interfaces Lab. Her academic interests drove her to appreciate and practice design through an empirical lens of how we perceive and interact with the world.
Why Education?
Education helps us tap into our innate, endless wells of curiosity and creativity, driving growth and fulfillment both professionally and personally in people’s lives. To that extent, I believe learning should be joyful—a fun adventure that we embark on and never want to stop—and I’m passionate about bringing more delight to educational experiences via user-centered design.
